A little about the project ... it's on RubyForge, although there's no code up there yet, and the piece I'm currently working on is still in R.

PRISM is the only open-source project I've been able to find that will do everything I want to do. All the others are either commercial or "free to academics only." I find it very interesting that they've recently been granted funding for a position to do something very much like what I want to build. Maybe all I really need to do is build a Ruby interface to PRISM and gradually "import" functionality into the Ruby language.
